Now What do you really think?

Well, Kansas lost. Really I should say Northern Iowa won. They were clearly the better team.

I am not gonna lie...it hurts. The only consolation for me at this point is that my son came very close to going to Northern Iowa. Wouldn't that have been a fun win for him?

I still maintain what I wrote a few days ago. Kansas could get upset and I would be upset (I am bummed). I also mentioned that God is still in control (and He is).

Not sure where to go from here. Does this mean I cheer for KState?

Rapps Ready for Kamp!

The Rapp family decided to pull out the tents and campout.... in the living room. We all slept in the tents and pretended we were in the great outdoors. Colton didn't quite make it the entire night--- i had to take him to his bed during the night, but everyone else did great.
We had recently taken a trip to K-West and the boys LOVED being out there! As a matter of fact, Carter cried as we left because he was wanting to stay for a few days.
I told him, "Soon, Carter, we will be there to stay for the whole summer!" I think we are ALL excited about that! Hunter is wanting to "amp it up" this summer by waterskiing; Colton wants to do the white waterslide (mom and dad are gonna hold off on that one); Carter and Connor want to dominate the red slide!

March Madness: Nobody Like the Referee

I figure this time of year, I should go ahead and state some obvious things.

Number One: Kansas is at the top of the heap and is the number one seed of the number one seeds.

Number Two: Nobody likes the referee...except maybe his family, and sometimes, that might not even be true.

Number Three: Unless the Lord returns by Wednesday, it's obvious that things are not going to go like some expect them to go. (Most likely, that will be me. I always pick Kansas to win it all. I pick with my heart, not my head. Most years, it doesn't turn out like I expect it to and I walk away sad and frustrated).

Life is kind of like that at times. We all feel like we are at the top of the heap, we are in control, we are, should I say, feeling like the "number 1."

But that's not how things unfold.

There can only be one 'number 1" and I know it's the Lord.

At times, some may feel He is a referee that makes a tough call, or fails to make what we deem as a fair call, and things don't turn out like we expect them to, ala March Madness, to coin a phrase.

I am committed to two things these next few weeks. First, I surrender my right to the fact that the Number 1 seed of the number one seeds, may not win it all.

Secondly, I concede that God is in control, not just of basketball, but all of life. He has the right to make any call that He wants to make, or not make.

So in the end, March Madness is kind of like the madness of life. When we wake up, we might think all is okay, but in reality, there are upsets, turnovers, and seemingly missed calls that leave us baffled.

Fear not, God is still in control. To my recollection, He has the only undefeated team in the history of man. He always wins, and we can always trust Him.

Oh, and by the way, if you haven't decided on who to pick for winning it all this year, consider Kansas. After all, they stand for so many things that are wonderful about college basketball: tradition, the invention of basketball, great fans, and a funny little bird for a mascot who needs encouragement anyway.

Get to the Point...Point 11 that is.

Looking for a place for your church youth group to head for a little fun? Check out Point 11 It's quite possibly the most exciting place you could take a group of kids to have fun and grow spiritually.

Bruce Morgan is piloting a new summer experience just right down the road from Kwest. Bruce has over three decades of youth ministry experience and will help host you and your friends on an unbelievable week of adventure and fun...and it's a whole lot like Kanakuk.

Check out their website today and get some info on the new craze here in the Ozarks. You won't want to miss the Point.

Kanakuk Mascot

Meet Jake.

Jake will be one of the K-West mascot's this year.
He just turned 6 months today weighing in at a tad over 45 pounds and growing like a weed.

Over the years we have always had a few good dogs to help come along side the staff and the kampers while they stay here. The funny thing about Kwest is that you never know what you will get.

What do I mean by that? Well, Spook (our women's director) is really great about bringing mascots...cats, occasionally a pig, maybe even a baby calf. Among her many talents which include National Championships, PhD work, and real estate, she is also a rancher and does a pretty fair job of raising cattle.

It will be fun to see Jake this summer at kamp. Be ready to at least meet him and say hello. He is the world's friendliest dog.

Even more exciting will finding out what mascot Spook will be bringing. No doubt they are always a "hit."

Kanakuk Green

I rode my bike to work today.

That's not really as big of a deal as it sounds. Lot's of days of I ride my bike to work. I'd like to say that it's because I am thinking Green and considering the environment. I am okay with that, but I wouldn't be telling you the whole truth.

I'd also like to say that ride my bike to work because I am staying fit, you know, doing that athletic thing. I am okay with too, but I wouldn't be telling you the whole truth.

It would be fun to tell you that I ride my bike to work because it's a nice day and I just want to enjoy the outdoors. Don't get me wrong, it is a nice day today, but most days I ride my bike to work it's been cold and windy. If I am completely honest with you, I hate being cold so I definitely don't ride to work to solely enjoy the outdoor air.

Honestly, I rode my bike to work today, well...because I am last on the list for vehicles at our home. By the time I cover the bases for my kids and wife, the garage is empty (except for my bike, a power sprayer, and my favorite lawn mower, and only one of those will really help me get to work).

Really I don't mind though. Honestly, I ride my bike because I love to ride bikes. It's one of the simple joys in life. It takes me back to being a kid at 301 Willow Road, where I grew up riding, jumping, wheeling, and at times, crashing my bikes. It was one of the best things about growing up.

If you haven't ridden a bike lately, dig out your bike, pump up the tires, and take a spin around the block. Trust me, you can get hooked pretty fast. In fact I got a call from Kurt yesterday and I am planning on meeting him at lunch to, you guessed it, ride my bike.

I like being green...
